Phone repair
Screens, batteries, charging ports and water damage, on Android and iOS. Most phone jobs are done the same day.
book →Mon–Sat · 9:00–19:00 Hatfield & 30 miles mail-in UK-wide
I taught myself on the bench, then trained under industry professionals. A cracked screen gets the same care as a full custom build, because both come back to me if I get them wrong. You'll have a fixed price before I open anything up.
Screens, batteries, charging ports and water damage, on Android and iOS. Most phone jobs are done the same day.
book →Won't boot, crashes under load, running hot. I diagnose it, then either fix it or spec and build you something better, stress-tested before it leaves. Upgrades and part sourcing too, at cost plus labour.
book →Screens, keyboards, batteries, hinges and liquid damage on any brand, MacBooks included. Post it in from anywhere in the UK.
book →PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. HDMI ports, disc drives, overheating and power faults. Consoles themselves, not controllers. Priced per fault, so message me for a quote.
enquire →Malware and pop-ups cleared, Windows reinstalled or debloated back to something quick, printers and peripherals actually talking to your machine. Printers never just work.
book →Photos off a phone that won't turn on, files off a drive that's stopped being seen, everything moved across to a new machine. Recovery is priced per case once I've seen how bad it is.
enquire →Pick a device and a repair for a starting-from price. It's a guide, not a quote: I confirm the exact figure on WhatsApp once I know the model and what's actually gone wrong. Part tiers are labelled honestly, so you can see whether you're getting a genuine part or a premium aftermarket one. Console repairs are priced per fault, so those show as an enquiry rather than a number.
Repairing tech since 2017, aerospace engineer by trade. There's no counter, no ticket number and no call centre. You message me, I diagnose it, I quote it, I fix it. If something goes wrong afterwards you come back to the same person, which is a fairly strong incentive for me to get it right the first time.
** Warranty length depends on the repair. It doesn't cover physical damage, and faults on water-damaged or power-fault devices can resurface later. I'll tell you the cover on your specific job before you commit.
My Google Business Profile is live, the first reviews just haven't landed yet. I'd rather say that than pad this page. The cards below are samples showing the kind of work I take on, not real customers, and they come down the day real ones arrive.
"Brought in a laptop that wouldn't boot, half expecting the worst. Fixed same day and cheaper than the quote I got elsewhere. Genuinely straightforward, no upselling."
"Had a custom gaming PC built from scratch. Kept me updated the whole way, cable management is spotless, runs dead quiet. Would book again in a heartbeat."
"Posted my MacBook in not knowing what to expect from a mail-in repair. Tracked both ways, fixed quote before anything started, back in three days. No complaints."
Yes. Every mail-in phone and laptop travels both ways on a tracked, insured courier, so it's covered the whole trip.
I don't go into your personal files unless the job needs it, like a data transfer. One person handles your device from start to finish, so it never gets passed around a queue.
Most repairs start with a £20 deposit that covers diagnosis, whatever the device. Same-day jobs like a battery swap don't need one at all. If you're within 5 miles the call-out is free. That deposit comes off your final bill, so going ahead costs you nothing extra. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts, and that's what you pay. No add-ons at the end.
Yes, in almost every case. If you decide against the repair once you've seen the price, I refund the deposit. The one exception is a fault that took real diagnostic work to trace, where the deposit covers the time it took. If your job is heading that way I'll tell you before I get into it, so it's never a surprise on the invoice.
Because working out what's actually wrong is the job, and doing it for free turned into a lot of unpaid hours. A deposit means the people who book get my full attention. It comes off your bill if you go ahead, and comes back to you if you don't. Where there's nothing to work out, there's no deposit: same-day jobs like a battery swap don't take one.
Most repairs are done in 24 to 48 hours. Ask about same-day when you book if it's urgent.
I come to you within 30 miles of Hatfield. Further out than that, post a phone or laptop in from anywhere in the UK and I'll send it back the same way.
Not yet, I'm working on it. In the meantime you can drop a device at Mr Gadget, Rickmansworth (84 High Street, WD3 1AQ) or The Galleria, Hatfield (Comet Way, AL10 0XR). Message me on WhatsApp first so I know to expect you.
You get your deposit back and there's no repair charge. No conditions on that one: if I couldn't fix it, you don't pay for it. You'll also get a straight answer on whether the device is worth taking further, or whether you're better off replacing it.
Every repair and every part I fit is covered, and I'll tell you the length for your specific job before you commit, because it varies by repair. Two things it doesn't cover: physical damage after the repair, and later faults on devices that came in with water damage or a power fault. Those can resurface weeks down the line through no fault of the work, and I'd rather say that up front than argue about it later.
